Mizuno JPX 925 Hot Metal HL Irons

The Mizuno JPX 925 Hot Metal HL Irons are the highest-launching, highest-spinning and most forgiving option in Mizuno's JPX 925 Hot Metal family. They combine Nickel Chromoly 4335 construction with a wider head profile, CORTECH Design and low tungsten weighting to help golfers create more height and a steeper landing angle.

Key Technologies

Nickel Chromoly 4335: High-strength material supports a fast, responsive face. CORTECH Design with Contour Ellipse Face: Mizuno's variable-thickness face design is engineered for consistent speed across the impact area. Low Tungsten Weighting: Helps increase launch and landing angle. High-Launch Geometry: HL uses weaker lofts than standard Hot Metal, including a 31° 7-iron versus 28° in standard Hot Metal.

Who Are the JPX 925 Hot Metal HL Irons For?

Mizuno classifies HL as a max-forgiveness speed cavity for mid-to-high handicap golfers. It makes particular sense for players who need more peak height, spin and stopping power rather than simply stronger lofts.

Hot Metal HL vs. Standard Hot Metal

HL is slightly larger and uses weaker lofts to promote more height and spin. The lie angles are not more upright than the standard model in Mizuno's published specifications. Choose HL if your shots launch too low or do not stop quickly enough; choose standard Hot Metal if you already create adequate height and want stronger lofts.

Loft Snapshot

HL lofts run from 22° in the 4-iron to 55° in the sand wedge. The 7-iron is 31°, compared with 28° in standard Hot Metal and Hot Metal Pro.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is HL only for senior golfers?

No. HL is a launch-and-spin solution, not an age category. Any golfer who needs more height, carry and stopping power can benefit from the HL profile.

Does HL have a more upright lie angle than standard Hot Metal?

No. Mizuno publishes the same lie-angle progression for the Hot Metal models. The higher flight comes from the HL model's geometry, wider profile, weighting and weaker loft structure.
