Swamp Bat - Soft Plastic Creature Bait for Bass Fishing

The Swamp Bat is a soft-plastic creature bait hand-poured in Texas by WM Bayou, with a distinctive claw-like tail that mimics baitfish, crawdads, and bluegill all at once on the fall. Built for flipping and pitching heavy cover — lily pads, hydrilla, laydown timber, and dock pilings. Designed to float. $6.99.

How do you rig the Swamp Bat?

Texas rig (1/16–1/2 oz tungsten, 1/0–3/0 EWG or straight shank — pitch it to cover, let it fall on controlled slack line, watch your line), Carolina rig (1/4–1/2 oz egg sinker, 2-ft fluorocarbon leader), jig trailer, or Neko, Jika, and Cheb rigs (1/16–3/16 oz for finesse applications).

What makes it different from other creature baits?

The claw-like tail. It creates lifelike action on the fall that reads as multiple forage species at once, triggering reaction strikes from big bass in heavy cover that have seen every other bait in the lake.

When is the Swamp Bat most effective?

Pre-spawn and spawn, when bass bed in shallow cover, and summer, when bass push deep into shade. At home in thick-vegetation lakes — lily pads, hydrilla, coontail.

What colors does it come in?

Oil Slick, Watermelon Red, Night Sky, Green Pumpkin, Guacamole, Old Earl, Tilapia Magic, Bayou Ember. $6.99.
