One of the most common failure points on all Polaris RZR turbo & XP 1000 engine platforms is the factory self adjusting timing chain tensioner. When timing chain tensioner failures happen and aren't caught in time they typically self destruct and cause total engine failure. Loose timing chains will saw into the engine case and jump teeth on the cam gears quickly leading to total destruction of the engine.
Total Performance Racing has revolutionized the cam chain tensioner for the Polaris RZR engine platform, delivering the ability to adjust chain tightness while the engine is running!
The TPR tensioner keeps proper tension on the cam chain during cold starts or roll over and eliminates the risk of catastrophic engine failure. The chain tensioner keeps the chain taught at the proper tension, virtually eliminating jumping teeth on the gears which is known to happen with the factory tensioners.
Easy to turn knob with easy to read laser indicators delivers precise tuning that also eliminates cam chain noise. All tensioners are precisely CNC machined in house in San Diego, California. The tensioner body and turning knob are made from 6061 billet aluminum. The shaft and foot internals are made from 17-4 stainless steel and feature ARP fasteners for secure clamping. Fitment:
This listing is the non-turbo (naturally aspirated) version of the TPR001 tensioner. It fits these Polaris machines with the 2 bolt style tensioner:
- 2017+ Polaris RZR XP 1000 and XP 1000 4
- Polaris RZR XP 900 and XP 900 4 (2017 and newer, as TPR lists it)
- Polaris RS1
- Polaris Ranger XP 1000 and Ranger Crew XP 1000
- Polaris Xpedition XP and Xpedition ADV (all seat versions)
Turbo engines (RZR XP Turbo, Turbo S, Pro XP and Turbo R) use the turbo version: TPR Industry Cam Chain Tensioner for Turbo models.
Early 2017 XP1000 model RZR’s may have a screw in style tensioner. Please check which style your car has before ordering. Early style screw in tensioners are also available. See Recommended products.
