These shovels are what the US military issues to its soldiers to dig in. This is the real authentic e-tool not the crappy knock off ones. Its tri-folding design allows it to become really compact and easy to carry. Unfolded you simply screw the lock upward to hold the shovel head firmly in place. Should you need it (or the situation is dire enough) the shovel has a semi-serrated edge incase you need to attempt sawing through branches or the likes. 

Great to keep in a bugout bag or trunk bag for emergencies especially for the snow to dig yourself out!
